weekly roundup: sofas that are available now and Don’t suck
Hello intrepid interior design rebels! How’s the house coming along? Or are you here for the eye candy???? I am working on two projects right now — the ongoing project that is my home and another, which inspired this RoundUp today:
Quick ship sofas that aren’t terrible
There’s an old adage: “You can have it good and cheap, but not fast. You can have it fast and cheap but not good. And you can fast and good, but not cheap.” Wow, if I did not repeat that every single day for the last few weeks when searching for a sofa for my AMAZING client who is redoing her garage. We have a November 14th deadline and she contacted me at the beginning of September. I know that sounds like a long time — but it’s very quick in the sofa game. Plus there’s the other thing — I will not buy or recommend a sofa to a client unless I’ve actually sat in a floor model OR its a cheap vintage find that can be revamped. That’s just a little thing I call integrity which I like to stand by when I have the honor to decorate someone’s home.
The other problem is that there are tons of CHEAP and FAST but not very appealing sofas. For this particular project, the client really wanted a leather sofa that could easily be wiped down. Many companies tout an affordable leather sofa (not going to name names here) but often they are made out of recycled leather. Great for the planet, but not very wipeable as the texture is more velvet than slippery. A hundred samples later, the only REAL good options were RH and/or Arhaus, both in stock. However the price tags were a little high for me and I didn’t want the client to blow their budget on a sofa when we had so much more fun stuff planned. Thank god I had a proactive client, since she found another company Poly and Bark. It ticked all the boxes: fast, cheap and GREAT! It is located in Moorpark, too, which is literally 15 minutes away!!!
I really hope she and her husband get to enjoy it! But during my search, I came across some other very STRONG contenders that I thought others might like to know about!
