unravel the mystery of “flow”
If you’re renovating/restyling your entire home or even stuck on one room, you really really need to read this. This article might just unjam those logs in your brain about what direction to go with your space(s). If anything, my method to planning flow gives you a roadmap for making choices. And I always say “Don’t strive for perfection. Strive for thought provoking choices.”
sixty-six of My favorite peel-n-stick wallpapers
Okay okay. I give in. For those who have even mentioned the words “temporary wallpaper”, you’ll know I’m not a fan. Several have tried to dissuade me from my convictions, and to no avail. I don’t just love wallpaper because it’s there. I love it for its artistry and craftsmanship. Peel-n-stick often feels to me like mass-produced and disposable whereas pasted wallpaper feels like ART. There are several arguments against peel-n-stick:
Despite all of these reasons, I do think that removable wallpaper is useful… I love using them to cover boxy furniture!!!
BUT several of you have asked so I am remiss to give you what you want! And it is not my job to judge. I’m not happy about temporary wallpaper, but I recognize that it is important to YOU guys. I will use my powers to help you pick out the ABSOLUTELY FUCKING BEST peel-n-stick wallpaper in the world!!!!
Before we do that…
my favorite wallpaper + art combos
Hello, intrepid design lover! As you may know, I love helping people even if they can’t afford my design services. I think EVERYONE should have a beautiful home.
It might be a little bit weird, but one of my favorite things to do is fantasize about wallpaper… am I the only one? I especially love pairing different themed wallpapers with unexpected art. Like putting a tropical wallpaper with an uber modern print, etc. It’s the unexpected element that gives your space that chef’s kiss. Below, I’ve put together some possible art options for popular wallpaper. Enjoy!
wallpapers I’m digging that aren’t floral, future projects and other fun stuff
Hi from my comfy recliner on a Saturday morning! I just had my coffee and ready to spill some thoughts on my recent wallpaper faves and let you in some exciting projects. Are you excited? After my second cafe latte, I am!
In my world, finding new wallpaper is a little like finding a new show to binge. I’m all about it and can’t wait to share with everyone around the proverbial water cooler. Small snag though - my friends aren’t into wallpaper and I work from home. So that means you get to read all my super gushy fan girl thoughts about some pictures on pastable paper.
Week 8: The Final Reveal
Her name? Carlotta. She is a vintage Harrod’s poster by Gerald Razzia. I love her because she looks like a total bitch. She can decimate you with her icy stare.
And until Carlotta came across my path, this room was a total mystery to me.
One Room Challenge: the big reveal
I know what you’re thinking… what?! It’s reveal day already?????!! Relax… I’m not there YET, but I am a bit of a tease.
No, this reveal is to let you know which room I decided to redo. And you might be shocked, since MOST of you wanted me to do this:
The dreaded blank wall…
Or is it more exciting to you? I’m with you — whichever option you choose — because it’s a little of both. Because isn’t a little fear a bit exciting? It wouldn’t be fun if it were easy!
But we’ve all been there — especially if you live in a pre-planned community like I do. When I was house shopping initially, every single home looked exactly the same. Let’s just say the folks in my neighborhood really like Lululemon, white BMWs and modern interiors. Black and white and grey, every single house blended together, including mine. But the moment I stepped into my house, I felt like it was a little bit different and special. Number one, it has the MOST spectacular giant pool. And number two, it had major potential — soaring ceilings, flowing-but-not-necessarily open floor plan.
Before I wax poetic about it, however, I have to really fess up. Decor-wise, the place was a snooze fest. Talk about blank walls, this was a blank house.
How i pick out wallpaper (shhhhh....)
I have been wanting and NOT wanting to write this post for a very long time. And I lied a little in my last post, in case you have been following. I ran two different polls asking what you wanted to me to post about. So while most of you voted for "How to make my house look cool" on this blog, my Instagram followers wanted to know how to pick wallpaper.
the kitchen reveal
Hello! How are you today? I'm so excited to show off my new kitchen, but best part of any kitchen reveal is the "before" pictures:
the british wave
Hello, sunshine! What are you up to today? If you've been following my Pinterest account, you will have noticed I've been pinning like crazy (my screen time is up 21% since last week AND I just got congratulated for my 10,750th pin... I think I might have a problem....). That's the thing I love about Pinterest -- those algorithms get me. My favorite thing to do is to fall down that rabbit hole and discover new and exciting things, because -- and three points if you guessed it already -- I have nothing else to do!
wallpaper: the tattoo of the design world
There are certain things commitment-phobes shy away -- neigh, bolt -- from: marriage, carpooling, children, buying a house, tattoos, wallpaper... Any one of these things would certainly send shivers up the spine of any free-wheeling spirit. They represent making a choice and then having to live with it beyond the "honeymoon" period, well into the unknown territory of the future. "Where will I be in 30 years?" is a thought that churns my stomach in the middle of the night.
